Pirates suffer Gow setback

Bristol Rovers playmaker Alan Gow will be sidelined for a number of weeks with ankle ligament damage.

The initial fears as the Exeter loanee was stretchered off against Scunthorpe was that the Scot had fractured his ankle but he will now undergo an MRI to discover the full extent of the injury.

"Alan was allowed to go home last night (Tuesday) and we don't think the ankle has been fractured," boss John Ward told the Bristol Evening Post. "There is some ligament damage so he will need to have an MRI scan to determine exactly how serious that is.

"We can't say for certain right now how long Alan may be out, but I wouldn't expect to see him on a football pitch for a number of weeks.

"It is a real shame because Alan has already shown us what a good player he is in the short time he has been with us. He gives us that something little extra in that position behind the frontman and he will be a big miss."
