Pitch problems for Bristol City
Steve Cotterill admits Bristol City may not be able to use their new £1.2m Ashton Gate pitch before Tuesday night's clash with Oxford.
The Robins invested heavily in their playing surface during the summer and were unable to try it out during their pre-season campaign.
And Cotterill says it was not a case of resisting temptation but a move to make sure it was in the best possible condition for their Capital One Cup first round tie.
"When you are spending £1.2million on a pitch you want it to be right, so if we have to leave it then so be it," he said.
"If there would have been a game and the pitch would have been okay then we would have had a game on it for sure.
"We may not get on it until the game against Oxford which would be maybe a slight disappointment but we want to give the groundsman the best chance."
