Podolski takes positives

Lukas Podolski says Arsenal's performance at Bayern Munich was a confidence boost as they chase league and cup success.

The Gunners were knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich for the second successive season, but produced a battling display in Tuesday night's 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena.

Podolski and his team-mates stood firm as Bayern bossed a goalless first half, and then the Germany forward netted a swift equaliser after Bastian Schweinsteiger had extended the reigning European champions' lead in the last-16 tie.

Despite bowing out of the competition 3-1 on aggregate, Podolski insisted there were positives to take as the Gunners turn their attention to league games against Tottenham, Chelsea, Swansea, Manchester City and Everton before they head to Wembley to take on Wigan in the FA Cup semi-finals.

"We take a little bit of confidence but in the end, we lost and we are out," Podolski told Sky Sports.

"We now look forward to our Premier League and FA Cup games.

"We fought to the end. We played a good second half but it's not enough to go to the next round.

"We are in the semis for the FA Cup and we are still fighting for the title.

"We have important weeks to go, so we play and we will see what happens."
