Pope heads back to York on loan

York have confirmed the return of Charlton goalkeeper Nick Pope on loan for his second spell at the club.

Pope, 21, made two appearances for the Minstermen in November when number one Michael Ingham was sidelined due to a hip injury.

Ingham has since returned to first-team action, while another loanee, Aaron McCarey, was recently recalled by parent club Wolves, so Pope will provide back-up for York boss Nigel Worthington.

Pope has yet to start a game for Charlton and made his only appearance for them off the substitutes' bench against Bristol City on the final day last season.

He has also had loan spells at Cambridge United and Aldershot, where he made nine and five appearances respectively.
