Portland win to keep hopes alive

The Portland Timbers breathed life into their faint hopes of making Major League Soccer's play-offs with a 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids on Friday night.

Diego Valeri and Maximiliano Urruti scored second-half goals as they came from a goal behind, having trailed to an early Deshorn Brown strike.

The win moves Portland up to seventh place in the Western Conference, still three points behind Colorado.
