Posh edge past sorry Stevenage
Nicky Ajose scored the only goal of the game as Peterborough strengthened their play-off bid with a 1-0 win at Stevenage.
The Posh now sit five points clear of seventh-placed Walsall with a game in hand on the Saddlers but the result was a massive blow to Boro's survival hopes as the bottom club are now nine points adrift of safety.
Peterborough had the game's first chance when Tommy Rowe's cross reached Danny Swanson, who controlled the ball well before forcing a good save from Chris Day.
Former Stevenage midfielder Michael Bostwick soon tested Day again from 25 yards out before Luke Freeman came close for the hosts when he bent a free-kick just wide of the post.
The Posh continued to press after the break with Britt Assombalonga having a shot superbly blocked by Boro captain Jon Ashton.
The breakthrough finally arrived for the visitors with 14 minutes left when Ajose got in front of his marker to sweep home Conor Washington's dangerous cross from close range.
