Poulter lands monthly award
Ian Poulter's brilliant Ryder Cup performance has earned him the European Tour's Golfer of the Month title for September.
Poulter won all his four games in Chicago, with many people pointing to his five closing birdies to claim a late victory in the Saturday fourballs as the moment that sparked Europe into life.
Jose Maria Olazabal's side were six points behind at one stage, but stormed back to retain the trophy by a single point.
On being told of the award the Englishman, who has now won 12 of his last 14 games in the event, said: "I'm delighted.
"The week at Medinah was truly incredible and something I will always cherish.
"It is important to note that this was a team event and I couldn't have played the way I did without the support and belief I had from all my team-mates, including caddies, the four vice-captains and, of course, captain Olazabal.
"This accolade is for all of us. The Ryder Cup will always be very special to me because of the pure pride and passion it brings out in everyone and I am already looking forward to Gleneagles in 2014."
