Powers in line for Cup clash
Royal Ascot winners Slade Power and Sole Power feature among 17 acceptors for Saturday's Darley July Cup at Newmarket.
The Edward Lynam-trained pair gave connections a week they'll never forget when claiming the Diamond Jubilee Stakes and King's Stand Stakes respectively at last month's summer showpiece and could lock horns on the July Course this weekend.
Slade Power finished two places ahead of his stable-companion when a close third behind Lethal Force in last year's renewal of the six-furlong Group One event.
The pair will be ridden by Wayne Lordan and Richard Hughes respectively this weekend, with elder statesman Sole Power set to carry the first colours of owners David and Sabena Power.
Lynam said: "Both horses are fine. I'm very happy with them. I wouldn't even try and split them."
Aidan O'Brien's Due Diligence finished strongly to take second behind Slade Power at Ascot and he could be joined by fellow Ballydoyle representatives Darwin, Cougar Mountain and Fountain Of Youth.
Aljamaheer, Astaire, Jack Dexter and Tropics are others set to reoppose having contested the Jubilee last month, while the Kevin Ryan-trained Hot Streak is in line for a step back up in trip having finished third behind Sole Power in the King's Stand.
Noozhoh Canarias, representing Spanish trainer Enrique Leon, is another fascinating contender having run well for a long way before finishing sixth in the QIPCO 2000 Guineas when last seen in May.
The list of entries is completed by Gregorian, Moviesta, Rex Imperator, Tropics, Undrafted and David Elsworth's Justice Day.
