FT: Portsmouth 1 Sunderland 1

Aruna Dindane's last-gasp header secured a point for Portsmouth against Sunderland to bring a glimmer of hope to the troubled south-coast club.

Darren Bent appeared to have secured the three points for the Black Cats with a 12th-minute penalty which followed a red card for Ricardo Rocha.

With boss Avram Grant sent to the stands by referee Kevin Friend, a Pompey comeback looked remote despite the best efforts of Dindane and strike partner Frederic Piquionne.

But Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole was shown a second yellow on 54 and sub David Meyler saw red for an elbow on Steve Finnan on 87.

Pompey piled crosses into the box and the pressure finally paid off in stoppage time when Dindane headed a deep Jamie O'Hara cross past Craig Gordon.

Bent had squandered a couple of chances to seal victory for Sunderland, while Pompey had two penalty appeals turned down early in the second half.
