PSG forced to wait for title

Paris Saint-Germain will have to wait to clinch a second successive Ligue 1 title after being held to a 1-1 draw by struggling Sochaux.

Victory at the Stade Auguste Bonal would have been enough for PSG, who are eight points clear of second-placed Monaco with three games remaining.

The visitors took the lead through Edinson Cavani's 24th-minute goal but they were pegged back 11 minutes after the break by an own goal from Thiago Silva.

The point was a welcome boost for Sochaux, who remain four points from safety in 18th place.

Lyon closed the gap on fourth-placed St Etienne back to two points with a convincing 4-1 win at home to Bastia.

Goals from Bafetimbi Gomis, Nabil Fekir, Bakary Kone and Alexandre Lacazette ensured a successful afternoon for Les Gones, who made it two Ligue 1 wins on the bounce at the Stade Gerland following their 1-0 defeat of PSG.

Francois Modesto's goal early in the second half briefly brought Bastia back to 2-1, but their opponents were too strong.

Crucially for Lyon, the win opened up a five-point lead over sixth-placed Marseille in the race for the final Europa League spot.

Lille took a huge step towards securing their Champions League spot with a 2-1 win over Bordeaux.

Salomon Kalou's 13th goal of the season set the hosts on their way before Ryan Mendes added a second.

Jussie gave Bordeaux hope from the penalty spot with 20 minutes left to play but Rene Girard's side held on to claim the result that opens up a seven point gap between them and fourth-placed St Etienne with three games to play.
