Purr Along has Deauville date
Trainer William Muir is targeting the Prix de la Nonette at Deauville on August 20 with star filly Purr Along.
A high-class juvenile last season, the three-year-old was well beaten on her reappearance in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Although she finished last of four in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket last time, she was far from disgraced, beaten less than four lengths by Elusive Kate, Sky Lantern and Giofra.
Muir said: "She's coming along very nicely, she's in really good form.
"Frankie Dettori was absolutely delighted with her at Newmarket. He said we shouldn't over-race her as she's going to get stronger as the year goes on and he thinks that next year, she'd have no problem at all winning those (Group One) races.
"The Falmouth wasn't run to suit, but she still ran very well. She wasn't beaten far by three fillies who have all won Group One races.
"I think our filly is better now than she's been all year and the plan is to go to Deauville for the Prix de la Nonette on August 20.
"That race is over a mile and a quarter and the thinking is that if all goes well, then she'd run in the Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp (October 6).
"We just want to see how she goes over a mile and a quarter. I don't really have any doubts she'll stay and I think she might even better over that trip."
