QPR confirm Phillips blow

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed that winger Matty Phillips will be sidelined for the 'long-term'.

Phillips picked up a leg injury early on in QPR's 3-3 draw with Burnley at Loftus Road in the Sky Bet Championship at the weekend.

Now scans have confirmed that the injury is serious, and Redknapp does not know if the 22-year-old Scotland winger will play again this season.

"It looks like a long-term injury," said Redknapp.

"We hope that we can get him back before the end of the season, but it's a serious one."

Phillips, who joined QPR last August for a fee of around 5million from Blackpool, has made 22 appearances for Rangers in all competitions, scoring three goals.

Redknapp's side are back in action on Monday night when they travel to face Derby at Pride Park in a live televised Sky Sports encounter.

Only four points separates the R's in second with the fourth-placed Rams, who are managed by Redknapp's former first-team coach Steve McClaren.
