Querrey goes through in Mexico
Sam Querrey was given a first round workout in the Abierto Mexicano Telcel in Acapulco before beating wildcard Tigre Hank in three sets.
The Mexican Hank started strong before Querrey prevailed 6-7 (5/7) 6-4 6-3.
The other first round encounters were much more straightforward, with Dudi Sela beating qualifier Alejandro Falla 6-1 6-4 and Jeremy Chardy dispatching Matthew Ebden 7-5 6-0.
In the women's tournament, two seeds suffered early exits as number four Magdalena Rybarikova and number seven Stefanie Voegele lost.
Rybarikova was beaten pretty convincingly 6-1 6-3 by Ajla Tomljanovic, while Voegele lost 3-6 7-6 (7/5) 6-4 to Kimiko Date-Krumm.
The only seed to advance on the day was number six Bojana Jovanovski, who beat American Tornado Alicia Black 6-4 7-5.
Marina Erakovic saw off wild card Anasofia Sanchez 6-2 6-2 and Christina McHale beat Kristina Mladenovic 6-4 6-2.
