Rakitic ignores move rumours

Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic is ignoring the latest round of rumours suggesting he could be on the move this summer.

Liverpool and Chelsea have been strongly linked with the Croatia international, who continues to shine for his current employers in La Liga.

Fresh reports claim that Atletico Madrid are now ready to join the chase for the highly-rated 25-year-old.

Rakitic is, however, eager to avoid being drawn into a debate regarding his future and claims to be fully focused on events in Andalusia.

He told Radio Marca: "It's needless to comment about Atletico because I have a contract with Sevilla and, as I said, I feel good here.

"I have great respect for Atletico but for me there is only one club - Sevilla.

"Currently there is nothing better than Sevilla and I do not think about anything. The talk about me is nice, but I do not care."

Sevilla are understandably reluctant to part with their prized asset and recently claimed that an extension to Rakitic's contract - which is due to run until 2015 - is close.

Club president Jose Castro told Estadio Deportivo: "It is an important negotiation. We've already had two meetings and I believe we've come to a friendly agreement.

"The agreement is clear, we have reached an understanding. There are details to refine but they will not stop Ivan from signing a contract for the next few seasons."
