Rangers reach Stanley cup finals

The New York Rangers moved into the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since 1994 with a 1-0 triumph over the Montreal Canadiens.

In game six of the Eastern Conference finals Dominic Moore netted the only goal with 1:53 remaining in the second period to hand the Rangers a narrow victory which secured a 4-2 series win at Madison Square Garden.

Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who was pulled less than halfway through game five on Tuesday after conceding four goals in a 7-4 loss, was required to make just 18 saves for his ninth career play-off shutout.

The Stanley Cup finals get under way on Wednesday in either Los Angeles or Chicago. The Kings lead the Blackhawks 3-2 in the Western Conference finals.
