Rascal makes French connection

Smoothtalkinrascal is in line to contest the Group Three Prix de Saint-Georges at Longchamp on Sunday.

David O'Meara's sprinter looked in good nick with a nose defeat of Borderlescott at Musselburgh last month and features in a strong British challenge for the five-furlong dash on French Guineas day.

The Cheveley Park-owned four-year-old could then try to atone for last season's narrow defeat in the Investec Specialist Bank Epsom 'Dash' on Derby day on June 7.

David O'Meara's charge was beaten just a neck by Duke Of Firenze after finishing strongly.

North Yorkshire-based O'Meara said: "He has taken his race at Musselburgh well and it was good to see him bounce back after his run at Cork.

"A combination of ground and trip probably caught him out there.

"He is entered in the Prix de Saint-Georges at Longchamp this weekend and it's highly likely that he will go there first.

"I haven't made a decision about whether or not Smoothtalkinrascal will go (to Epsom).

"It obviously depends on how he is between now and then."

Smoothtalkinrascal is Coral's 7-1 joint ante-post favourite for the 'Dash', for which there are 52 entries, with the weights to be announced on May 14.
