Rasen survives wind scare

Racing at Market Rasen on Thursday has been given the go ahead following an inspection prompted by gale-force winds.

Conditions have eased sufficiently at the Lincolnshire track to allow the jumps meeting to take place.

"We've passed the inspection. The wind has actually dropped a bit in the last hour and is about 40mph," said clerk of the course Jane Hedley.

"Jockeys are perfectly happy and we're happy to go ahead."

The going is described as good to soft on the hurdles course and soft on the chase track.

The first of seven races was due off at 12.20pm.
