Reading duo closing on return

Reading manager Nigel Adkins is hoping for some rare good news on the injury front.

The Royals' promotion bid has been hindered by a huge casualty list this season and Adkins had eight first-team players missing for Saturday's clash with Bolton.

Yet despite their injury problems, patched-up Reading romped to a 7-1 victory to climb back into the play-off places.

Defenders Wayne Bridge and Sean Morrison have been sidelined with knee injuries since November but Adkins hopes to have the duo back next month.

"All being well we're hoping Bridge and Morrison will be available in February, we'll wait and see," said Adkins.

"And there were no new injuries to report after Saturday's game."
