Reckless Abandon retained his unbeaten record in a thrilling renewal of the Vision.ae Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket.
An eagerly awaited renewal of the six furlong Group One contest didn't disappoint with the market principals fighting out the finish.
Gerald Mosse was able to resume his partnership with Clive Cox's youngster after Adam Kirby elected to ride Moohaajim for Marco Botti and Mosse rode an inspired race.
The Exchange Rate colt has shown a tendency to hang to his left thus far and the veteran French jockey was keen to secure the stands' side rail and rousted his mount along in the early stages to win the battle for the early pace with the speedy Hototo.
Once in front, Mosse was able to slow the gallop and save his charge's energy for the stiff finish and that proved vital as Moohaajim appeared to force his head in front inside the final furlong.
Reckless Abandon had conserved enough energy to fight back, however, and battled back to score by a neck and a neck with rank outsider Gale Force Ten running a huge race in third.
His stablemate, Cristoforo Colombo, struggled to go the early gallop but stayed on well for pressure, following the principals through on the rail without every looking likely to have the pace to throw down a meaningful challenge.
Reckless Abandon was winning for the fifth time this season having already secured the Norfolk Stakes, the Prix Robert Papin and the Group One Prix Morny.
Mosse said: "We got a chance to get to the lead without too much pressure.
"He picked up quite well and he kept fighting.
"When I pressed him a bit hard, he answered.
"Today he was lovely."
Cox said: "I'm just delighted for everyone involved - it's just a fantastic day.
"He's very talented."
