Red Devils extend Eden loan

Salford Red Devils have retained the services of full-back Greg Eden on week-by-week basis after Hull KR extended his loan, confirmed Craig Sandercock.

The former Huddersfield Giants man joined Iestyn Harris' Red Devils on an initial one-month loan and he has been a regular in the side ever since.

Rovers head coach Sandercock remains a fan of Eden's ability, although he knows the 23-year-old still needs to work on some facets of his game.

Ben Cockayne has reverted to full-back at New Craven Park during Eden's absence while Rovers have included a clause in the deal that allows them to recall Eden at 24 hours' notice.

"We are going to let Greg stay at Salford on loan on a week-to-week basis," Sandercock told the Hull Daily Mail.

"He is such a good player that we want to be able to call him back at short notice if need be.

"Greg is getting to where we want him to be. Obviously there are parts of his game he needs to work on.

"That's why he's not playing first grade at our club at the moment but he's a really good player."

Whether Eden has a long-term future at Salford remains to be seen following the additions of Kevin Locke and Ben Jones-Bishop for 2015 with both being able to operate at full-back.

You can see Eden and the Red Devils in action on Thursday evening when they go head-to-head with champions Wigan Warriors at the AJ Bell Stadium live on Sky Sports 3HD from 7.30pm
