Redcar forced to abandon

Redcar's meeting on Friday has been abandoned due to waterlogging following a second track inspection.

The team at the Teesside track had scratched the last two contests on an eight-race card that were due to be run on the round course to give the meeting every chance of going ahead.

However, the straight track was still found to be unraceable after an unexpected eight millimetres of rain fell overnight.

"We inspected this morning and abandoned races on the round course and we were hopeful we would have some improvement on the straight course," said general manager Amy Fair.

"That's why we re-jigged the race programme for Friday to give it every opportunity.

"We've had a lovely day here but it's not shown enough improvement. We know we can't race tomorrow."
