Sky Sports News understands Bryan Redpath has left his position as Sale Sharks' director of rugby following the club's dismal start to the season.
The Scot has paid with his job for a run of seven successive Aviva Premiership defeats at the start of the new campaign.
Last month's decision to dismiss forwards coach Steve Scott as part of a backroom revamp failed to turn around the club's results.
And Redpath's short reign is now over less than five months after his appointment, though it is not yet clear whether he will leave the club altogether.
A Sale spokesman would not confirm the news, saying only: "Sale Sharks would like to place on record that Bryan Redpath has NOT been dismissed by the club."
Sale have won just once this season, beating Cardiff Blues in their opening Heineken Cup fixture.
