Regal up for Ascot parade

Evergreen sprinter Regal Parade is set for a possible rematch with his Ayr conqueror Captain Ramius at Ascot next month.

The eight-year-old finished two and a half lengths behind the Kevin Ryan-trained winner in the Ayr Gold Cup and both horses are now being aimed at the Betfred Challenge Cup on October 6.

Trainer Milton Bradley was delighted with the effort of Regal Parade in Scotland, with the former Haydock Sprint Cup winner posting one of his best efforts for some time.

Bradley said: "He ran a proper race on Saturday and it was a really competitive handicap.

"We've put a tongue-tie on him and I think it has made a difference, but he's just a happier horse.

"We've got to know him better - what he does and doesn't like - and with these older horses, you've got to meet them halfway as you can't bully them.

"We were delighted with him on Saturday, he ran a great race and we were over the moon. It's nice to see him run well.

"We were going to go to Ascot for the seven-furlong race next month and that's still the plan.

"Let's hope we can get him there as good as he was last week."
