Ribeiro plays down exit talk

Cruzeiro midfielder, and reported Manchester United target, Everton Ribeiro has played down further talk of a summer exit.

The 24-year-old's agent claimed that Cruzeiro had rejected a bid for him during the January transfer window from an unnamed English side, with United said to be among the clubs that were keen on acquiring his services.

Despite the talk surrounding his future, Ribeiro stayed put in Brazil where he played for all of his career since making his professional debut with Corinthians in 2007.

The highly-rated winger has recently been linked with a switch to Serie A side Napoli in the Italian press, but he was keen to cool rumours of a departure.

"The time for speculation is over," he told UOL.

"I am now focusing on my games and improving so everything works out."
