Ridasiyna denies Izzi in Opera

Ridasiyna gave the Aga Khan victory in the Prix de l'Opera Longines at Longchamp for Mikel Delzangles and Christophe Lemaire.

Unbeaten until her last-time-out defeat in the Prix de la Nonette at Deauville, the winner showed a terrific burst of speed to run down John Gosden's Izzi Top.

John Oxx's Manieree made it a real test in the very soft ground but was soon treading water and William Buick probably found himself in front sooner than he would have liked on Izzi Top.

The latter had no answer to the impressive winner, however, and just held on for second with Giofra and Pirika closing her down.

Delzangles said: "She showed she was a good filly in previous races but we were disappointed with her last run when everything went wrong.

"I was worried like everybody is about the ground, but she didn't mind it and she was happy because they went a good pace. We've got plenty of races to think about now but nothing has been decided."

Gosden said of Izzi Top: "She's got a lot of speed and got bogged down in the ground. She can handle this ground but it's not her favourite. Today was all about specialists handling the conditions.

"There might be one more race for her, not the Breeders' Cup. We'll talk to the owners and see how we get on."
