Ring returns to Cardiff

Cardiff Blues have confirmed their former Wales fly-half Mark Ring has been appointed as backs coach.

Ring played for both Cardiff and Pontypool while also making 32 appearances for Wales between 1983-91 and appeared in the first Heineken Cup final in 1996 when his side went down to Toulouse.

The 50-year-old then moved into coaching with West Hartlepool RFC, Cardiff RFC, Penzance and Caerphilly RFC.

Ring will now leave his coaching post with Welsh Premier Division side Cross Keys RFC to rejoin Cardiff with Lee Jarvis continuing his full-time role as skills coach.

Cardiff RFC chairman John Huw Williams said: "I'm glad that Cardiff RFC have secured the services of Mark to be our backs coach.

"We have some extremely talented backs playing for us and I'm sure Mark will be able to bring the best out of them."
