Robshaw tops awards shortlist

England captain Chris Robshaw has been named on the six-man shortlist for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Season award.

Robshaw has played a key role in Harlequins' charge this season, with his form not only earning him a place back in the England set-up but the captaincy under Stuart Lancaster, too.

Robshaw is joined among the shortlist by team-mate Mike Brown, while fellow RBS Six Nations squad member Brad Barritt earns his place after a stellar campaign.

Exeter flanker James Scaysbrook, Gloucester prop Nick Wood and Leicester back row Julian Salvi are also in the running for the prestigious award.

"The panel has come up with an incredibly impressive shortlist, which reflects the strength of Aviva Premiership Rugby," said Premiership Rugby chief executive Mark McCafferty.

"It's great to see players who have emerged from our Academies in what is undoubtedly a world-class list of players.

"It will be a tough job picking the winner as clearly all six would be a worthy Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Season."
