Robson overcomes Fed Cup scare

Laura Robson overcame a major first-set scare to give Great Britain a 1-0 lead in their must-win Fed Cup tie against Hungary on Saturday.

The British number two was troubled by a shoulder problem as she lost the opening set 6-0 to Greta Arn, a player ranked almost 100 places below her.

However, Robson recovered to post a 0-6 6-2 6-1 victory in Eilat, Israel.

Heather Watson will now bid to book GB a play-off showdown on Sunday against Bulgaria. She takes on Timea Babos in the second singles rubber.

GB, who have already beaten Bosnia an Portugal in the Europe/Africa Zone Group I this week, must beat Hungary and Bulgaria if they are to maintain their hopes of playing in the second tier of the competition - World Group II - next season.

If they do win both ties, they will progress to a promotion play-off in April.
