Andy Roddick will face defending champion Andreas Seppi in the final of the AEGON International.
Both men came through two matches in Eastbourne on Friday.
Rain on Thursday meant the men's quarter-finals and semi-finals were played on the same day, with sixth seed Roddick beating Fabio Fognini 6-3 3-6 7-5 in his last-eight match.
That set up a semi-final against Steve Darcis, who was a 6-2 7-6 (7/4) winner over Marinko Matosevic.
And the Belgian was trailing Roddick 6-3 3-1 when he retired from their match.
Seppi was gifted a place in the last four when his opponent, Philipp Kohlschreiber, also retired while trailing 7-5 2-1.
Seppi's semi-final opponent Ryan Harrison had beaten Denis Istomin 7-6 (7/5) 6-4 to progress, but was unable to find a way past the Italian third seed, succumbing 7-5 6-1.
In the women's semi-finals, fourth seed Marion Bartoli saw her Eastbourne challenge ended with a 4-6 7-5 6-4 defeat to Tamira Paszek.
The Austrian will next take on fifth-seeded German Angelique Kerber, who triumphed 6-0 6-3 over Klara Zakopalova.
