Rory: My game's in good shape

Rory McIlory says he is ready to tackle Royal Liverpool, venue of this week’s third major of the season – The Open Championship.

The 25-year-old is happy with his form, following his decision to compete in last week's Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen.

Although McIlroy opened with a course record 64, he slumped to a 78 in round two before posting a brace of sub-70s to finish in a tie-for-14th - nine shots behind winner Justin Rose.

The Northern Irishman told a press conference: \"I'm glad I played up in Scotland last week

\"I feel as prepared as I've ever been coming into The Open, after four competitive rounds on links playing in vastly contrasting conditions up there.

\"It was a good week in terms of preparation for this week at The Open but a little disappointed with how I finished. I had three good rounds and one not so good round.

\"My game feels in good shape and I got good links practice last week. My record hasn't been as good as I'd like and would like to improve on that.\"

His highest finish to date is third at St Andrews in 2010.
