Ruby set to miss Plumpton

Rock On Ruby is unlikely to take up his entry in the Follow @AtTheRaces On Twitter Novices' Chase at Plumpton on Sunday.

The 2012 Champion Hurdle hero, who made a successful debut over fences at the East Sussex track last month, could turn up at Doncaster for the Check Out The All-New FreeBets.co.uk Novices' Chase next Wednesday.

But that too is with the proviso that conditions are suitable.

"It's unlikely he'll run at Plumpton. The ground is heavy there. He'll probably go to Doncaster on the Wednesday," said trainer Harry Fry's assistant Ciara O'Connor.

"It will be the same situation there though. We will only run him if the ground is OK. We're not going to slog him out on heavy, soft ground again.

"We'll just take it one step at a time and just hope the rain will eventually stop.

"The horse is in great order. He's grown a couple of inches since he started jumping fences. We're looking forward to getting him out again."
