Saddler's rocks on to Goodwood

Saddler's Rock is to be aimed at the Artemis Goodwood Cup following his fine effort in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot last week.

Trainer John Oxx reports the four-year-old to have taken his exertions at the Berkshire venue in his stride.

Last season's Doncaster Cup winner got going far too late on Thursday, yet was only beaten three-quarters of a length in third place behind the winner Colour Vision.

Saddler's Rock will now be prepared for the Group Two showpiece over two miles at Glorious Goodwood on August 2.

"It may look as though he had a hard race at Ascot, but he's lost hardly any weight," said Oxx.

"He'll go down the Cup route and the Goodwood Cup is the race we are looking at now."
