West Ham manager Sam Allardyce believes moving into the Olympic Stadium after the 2012 London Games would take West Ham "to another level".
The Hammers are among those hoping to inherit the 80,000-seater stadium once London's staging of the biggest spectacle in sport has come to a close.
The East End club expect to find out in August whether their efforts to lease the stadium have been successful.
It is by no means guaranteed that they will be given the green light, with their plenty of opposition to their bid.
Allardyce, though, feels that the club need to be playing in a ground of that size if they are to fulfil their potential.
The extra revenue which would be generated on matchdays would allow the club to compete with the Premier League's big spenders and re-establish themselves among the top-flight elite.
'It would be a dream come true and there is nothing I can say more certain than that,' said Allardyce.
"Everyone who is part of West Ham United knows how much it would benefit the club.
"It would take this club to another level if our bid is accepted."
