Scocco a target for Newell's
Newell's Old Boys have confirmed their interest in signing reported Sunderland target Ignacio Scocco from Internacional.
The 28-year-old started his career at the Argentine side and spent time on loan there last season, but Scocco's father has previously stated that a move to Wearside could be on the cards following Sunderland's interest.
However, the striker is also a target for his previous club, as confirmed by Newell's president Guillermo Lorente, who also claims that Scocco himself is keen on a return.
"Ignacio Scocco is very interested in returning to Newell's and likewise, Newell's are very interested in bring him back," he told Radio La Red.
"We are paying close attention to the situation; we know the player is important for the club."
Lorente also spoke of an administration issue with Scocco's current club which could open up a move.
"Internacional didn't pay one of the instalments which were due to be paid by January 10. We'll consider all possibilities to be able to bring him," he said.
