Scrivens blanks Sharks

Ben Scrivens made 59 saves for a hard-earned shut-out as the Edmonton Oilers beat the San Jose Sharks 3-0.

Taylor Hall had a goal and two assists while Justin Schultz and Jordan Eberle also scored to help the Oilers to victory.

For Scrivens, only recently acquired from the Los Angeles Kings, it was his first shut-out as an Oiler and his fifth in the NHL.

Elsewhere, the New York Rangers beat their city rival Islanders 2-1 in a match played in freezing temperatures at Yankee Stadium while the Chicago Blackhawks were 5-2 winners over the Vancouver Canucks.
