Two seeds were knocked out of the Copa BBVA Colsantias on the first day in Bogota.
Both number six seed Mathilde Johansson and the number-eight-ranked Patricia Mayr-Achleitner were dispatched, with Valeria Savinykh and Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino the respective victors.
Johansson was beaten 7-6 (7/2) 3-6 7-5 and Mayr-Achleitner 6-1 3-6 7-6 (7/3).
There were also first-round victories for Petra Rampre over Karen Castiblanco and for Mariana Duque-Marino against Tetiana Luzhanska.
In qualifying, Paula Ormaechea, Sesil Karatantcheva, Yaroslava Shvedova and Ines Ferrer Suarez all tasted victory.
