Selby and Munroe to clash

Lee Selby and Rendall Munroe will clash for the vacant European featherweight title in Cardiff on February 1, it has been confirmed.

The fight represents a fascinating clash between old and new - with British champion Selby facing the toughest test of his career so far against the former Commonwealth and European super-bantamweight champion.

Munroe has had three comeback fights in 2013 after announcing his retirement following defeat to Scott Quigg more than 12 months ago.

But Selby (26-1) is on a steep upward curve and although he has already won the Lonsdale Belt outright it will be on the line again at the Motorpoint Arena.

The headline act will be supported by the return of Gavin Rees, who will look to kick-start his career following defeats to Adrien Broner and Anthony Crolla against Gary Buckland, who is also on a retrieval mission after losing his British super-featherweight title to Stephen Smith.

The show, live on Sky Sports, will also feature heavyweight prospect Anthony Joshua against Dorian Darch, a fight that was due to take place last weekend only for Joshua to be ruled out with an arm injury.

The stacked undercard will also feature Erick Ochieng v Dale Evans, Welsh middleweight Kerry Hope, Liverpool's Thomas Stalker, Prizefighter light-welterweight champion Chris Jenkins, Jason Cook and Tony Pace.
