Sevilla sign Barbosa

Mariano Barbosa has joined Sevilla from Las Palmas, signing a two-year deal with the Primera Division side.

The 29-year-old keeper will provide competition for Beto at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and the move marks his return to the top flight in Spain.

Barbosa's future had been in doubt after Las Palmas failed to secure promotion from the Segunda Division last year and Sevilla boss Unai Emery revealed earlier this week that the former Villarreal stopper was a target.

Sevilla moved quickly to complete the move and it caps off a good few days for the club after they also brought in Liverpool winger Iago Aspas on loan with a view to a permanent deal on Monday.

"Sevilla FC has completed all formalities and Barbosa has signed a contract to join Sevilla for the next two seasons," the club said on its official website.

"Barbosa flew into Seville, passed a medical this morning and completed their paperwork with the signing of the contract."
