Nicky Shorey has backed caretaker boss Eamonn Dolan to be handed the Reading job on a permanent basis.
Dolan took caretaker charge of the side for Saturday's defeat at Manchester United following the sacking of Brian McDermott last Monday.
Shorey, who returned to the starting line-up at Old Trafford, admits he has enjoyed working under Dolan and would be happy to see him remain in charge at the Madejski Stadium.
"It's not down to me, but I've enjoyed working with Eamonn," Shorey told The Sun.
"Whatever the decision the owner makes will be fine with us and we will get on with it.
"We had a good week with Eamonn and we'll work for him for however long it will be."
Shorey admits the whole Reading squad were shocked by McDermott's shock sacking last week.
"Disappointed, shocked all of those emotions, But we respect the owner's decision," added Shorey.
"We're still positive."
