Showing set for Goodwood

Tom Dascombe is pondering at trip to Glorious Goodwood with Showing Character following a sparkling winning debut at Chester.

Sent off a 3/1 chance for the Injured Jockeys Fund 50th Anniversary Novice Stakes, he proved too quick for 4/5 favourite Steve Prescott in the rain-softened ground and scooted away for a four-and-a-half lengths success.

The trainer told Racing UK: \"He's been showing bags of speed at home and just half missed the break but was quick enough to get back up there. We pinched the lead and Richard (Kingscote) said turning in he pricked his ears and he was having a look about him so he gave him a belt and that was that. He's a nice horse.

\"He'll go on any ground, we'll take it one step at a time, but I'd love to run him in the Molecomb at Goodwood. I'm sure he'd absolutely love that.\"
