Siddle to miss Notts opener
Nottinghamshire will be without overseas signing Peter Siddle for their LV= County Championship opener against Lancashire due to a visa delay.
Australia quick Siddle was due to arrive in time to play in the first game, which begins at Trent Bridge on Sunday, but will now make his debut against Middlesex.
"Peter wanted to play against Lancashire and we want him in the team but the speed of the process is out of our hands which is frustrating," head coach Mick Newell told the club's website.
"Everything that could be done has been done but we'll get him in the side to face Middlesex at Lord's."
Siddle played in every game of Australia's 5-0 Ashes whitewash over the winter, before playing the first two Tests of their series win in South Africa last month.
Newell suggested that the fact he was in South Africa so recently had added to the visa delay.
"He's had some visa issues complicated by the fact that he was in South Africa until the middle of March so he couldn't apply for a visa until he got back," Newell told Sky Sports News.
Siddle's absence could open the way for former England quick Ajmal Shahzad to be drafted in to join Andre Adams, Harry Gurney and Luke Fletcher in the starting line-up.
