Silver for British girls

Great Britain's junior gymnasts have scooped the girls team silver at the

European Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

They finished second with a score of 165.005, to take Britain's first ever junior girls team medal, just behind Russia who won gold with 168.262. Romania rounded off the podium in third.

Wednesday's event also determined the individual qualifiers for Friday's all-round final, with Elissa Downie - younger sister of Olympian Rebecca Downie - and Catherine Lyons both making the cut.

Their senior counterparts will spring into action on Thursday in the adult women's qualifications.
