Gilles Simon moved into the quarter-finals of the Nastase Tiriac Trophy in Bucharest with a 6-4 6-2 win over Israel's Dudi Sela in Bucharest.
Top seed Simon will play seventh seed Lukasz Kubot in the last eight after the Pole beat Romania's Marius Copil 6-3 6-3 in their 73-minute match.
Fourth seed Viktor Troicki suffered a surprise defeat against Germany's Matthias Bachinger, the world number 120 coming through 6-3 4-6 7-6 (7/2).
Fifth seed Marcos Baghdatis was also beaten, 7-5 7-6 (7/4) by Italy's Fabio Fognini, while Italy's sixth seed Andreas Seppi overcame Cedrik-Marcel Stebe of Germany 6-2 6-3.
