Smith injury worry for Wakefield

Wakefield are waiting to discover the extent of an injury sustained by Tim Smith during Sunday's Jon Wilkin testimonial match at St Helens.

The Australian half-back went off just 15 minutes into the match, which the Wildcats lost 42-12, and was taken to hospital with a worrying leg injury.

"He may well have broken his leg or it may well just be bruising, but he's struggling on it at the moment," said Wakefield coach Richard Agar.

"He'll get X-rayed as soon as we get back tonight and we'll get the results from that."

Wakefield, who also lost prop forward Andy Raleigh with rib-cartilage damage, are already resigned to being without half-back Kyle Wood for the start of the new season after undergoing surgery for a detached retina following a freak training-ground accident.

Wildcats' first Super League game is against Bradford on February 3.
