Snedeker sets the early pace
Brandt Snedeker found his form once again on the Torrey Pines golf course by taking the clubhouse lead at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Snedeker, the defending champion in La Jolla, California, sank seven birdies in a flawless round of 65 to set the pace on seven under.
Alongside Snedeker at the top of the leaderboard was Charles Howell III, who had completed 15 holes with six birdies, a bogey and an eagle in his round so far.
Tiger Woods was among a group of players sitting two shots behind the leader on five under.
Woods' card showed five birdies, an eagle and a double bogey on the par-four fourth after 12 holes as he looked to improve on last week's showing at the Abu Dhabi Championship, where he missed the cut.
Tag Ridings, Bo van Pelt, Jimmy Walker and Jerry Kelly were also on five under having completed their opening rounds.
Ridings wowed the crowd with a hole in one on the par-three third, which was mixed with five birdies and three bogeys.
Van Pelt had seven birdies and two bogeys in his round of 67, while Walker and Kelly both showed an eagle on their respective cards.
England's Ross Fisher was also two shots off the lead through 16 holes.
