Shame on the BBC; their Ceefax pages reported Stephen Hendry's retirement as some-sort of shabby reaction to a loss... They approached it with a Hendry 'petulantly quit' slant after his defeat to Steven Maguire. This is a gross injustice and highly disrespectful to a player who has graced the game - and never set a foot wrong - in almost thirty years. They also managed to omit the fact that he scored a maximum 147 in this year's championship, the only player to achieve this so-far this year. What a lousy ending report on a sporting giant's distinguished career and retirement. They did, however, manage to ensure that the Roy Hodgson England coach appointment was included, not only in the sports pages, but in their 'Main News' pages. I have absolutely nothing against Mr. Hodgson and I genuinely wish him well, but compared to Stephen Hendry's incredible achievements and contribution to sport, it's all very tacky and childish - yes, childish. What must he do to gain their respect and recognition? Should he perhaps bring the game into disrepute, or sulk, threatening never to play again after a loss? BBC fans with laptops. Bad.

They went all the way to China and players I have not heard of before won 8 frames in the first round, well done Barry Hearn

Well you know more players than I do because I counted 19 frames from guys I haven't heard of before. Snooker needed a change, needs more events, it isn't going to happen over night but now these guys who are mysteries to most people have a good chance of playing against the best more often and that will improve their game eventually 'the' game.
