Marco Botti's Solar Deity denied Kenny Powers in the shadow of the post to land the williamhill.com EBF Lady Wulfruna Stakes at Wolverhampton.
The four-year-old was sent off a well-backed 7-4 favourite but looked to have a mountain to climb on entering the final furlong.
Tom Dascombe's Kenny Powers held what looked a sizeable advantage under Hayley Turner and appeared to have stolen it, but Martin Harley got a great tune out of his mount.
Now the winner of four of his last five races, he is progressing at a rate of knots and is finally fulfilling the promise he showed early in his career.
Botti was also on the mark with Jakkalberry in Dubai, but was denied a treble when Guest Of Honour was pipped by Strictly Silver in the William Hill Lincoln Trial.
The victory was another feather in the cap for young jockey Robert Tart, who produced his mount with a perfectly-time run.
"He always travelled nicely through the race, he almost does it too easy," said Tart. "He did hang left in the last couple of furlongs but he had enough left to take it on the line. He's a lovely horse."
Bailey said: "It was a good ride. He just doesn't panic (under pressure) and he goes through the gears. This lad is very good.
"He hurt himself on the gallops and it was doubtful if he would run here but my staff have worked hard to get him here."
Strictly Silver holds an entry in the William Hill Lincoln at Doncaster for which the sponsors cut him to 12-1 from 16s.
