Solbakken eyes victory solace
Stale Solbakken says his decision to make 10 changes for Wolves' 6-0 thrashing by Chelsea will be vindicated if they beat Sheffield Wednesday.
Attempting to juggle the club's gruelling fixture list, Solbakken sent out a much-changed line-up for their League Cup tie at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night and saw his team crushed as Gary Cahill, Ryan Bertrand, Juan Mata, Oriol Romeu, Fernando Torres and Victor Moses all found the net.
But Solbakken, who will revert to a now fresh first-choice XI this weekend, insists three points against the Owls will make it all worthwhile.
"If we beat Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, I'll be fine. The fans will understand," he said.
"That's why I put the squad out early on the website on Monday."
Football League rules which come into effect next season demand clubs play a strong team in the competition. But Solbakken added: "Next year is next year. It's my least problem this year. You can ask me this time next year."
