Spanish Open course confirmed

The PGA Catalunya Resort will host the 2014 Open de Espana from May 15-18 and its chief executive has said it will provide an excellent challenge for the top players.

The European Tour tournament will return to the 36-hole venue located near Barcelona for the first time since 2009.

Europe's finest players will be tested by the 7,333 yards, par-72 Stadium Course, and benefit from practicing on the largest putting and chipping green in Spain.

And the resort's chief executive Julio Delgado is very much looking forward to welcoming the Open back to the new and improved Catalunya Resort.

"The Open de Espana is the only European Tour event in Spain in 2014 and so it is fitting that it is returning to the country's number one ranked golf course," Delgado said.

"The venue has undergone a transformation in the past five years, with a significant upgrade to the Stadium Course, new practice facilities and the development of luxury golf properties around a private residents' club.

"PGA Catalunya Resort is a world-class destination and we look forward to welcoming the Open de Espana back."
