Squad strength pleases Powell
Charlton manager Chris Powell has praised his fringe players for stepping up to the plate after a spate of injuries at The Valley.
The Addicks romped to the League One title last season with a first XI which rarely changed, but Powell has enjoyed no such luck this term.
The likes of Johnnie Jackson, Yann Kermorgant, Rhoys Wiggins and Matt Taylor are all sidelined while Danny Green limped off in the 2-0 win at Blackpool a week ago.
"That's why you have a squad," said Powell.
"It's not always easy to keep everyone happy. They all want to play but only 11 can.
"But it does show that when the players are called upon off the bench, or when they are not even in the 18, that they come in and they know exactly what I want from them and they go and do it on the pitch."
